This morning, the cross-sea network system submarine cable protection emergency response exercise was carried out. The exercise was jointly conducted by the Haikou Branch of the Guangzhou Bureau of China Southern Power Grid EHV Transmission Company and the Haikou Maritime Safety Administration.
It is reported that this exercise simulated a sudden incident that caused a threat to the safety of the submarine cable when a ship without an AIS (Ship Identification System) was installed illegally anchoring in the sea area of the submarine cable protection zone.
The submarine cable of the cross-sea power interconnection system is located at the west entrance of the Qiongzhou Strait. Ships passing through the submarine cable protection monitoring and warning area should report to the maritime traffic control center in accordance with regulations and handle them in accordance with the command to avoid threats to the safety of the submarine cable.
The exercise examined the emergency response process of the ship being monitored by the Submarine Cable Monitoring Center and the Maritime VTS (Vessel Traffic Management System) center, but did not obey the command, so the on-site law enforcement ship supervision ordered it to abandon the anchor and secure the cable and accept the law enforcement investigation.
